Revyze: Making learning fun

Revyze is shaping the future of education – turning the habit of doom scrolling into something more productive, and inspiring young students towards a passion for lifelong learning.

Revyze is on a mission to transform education and inspire Gen Z and Gen Alpha towards a passion for lifelong learning. Teens spend five hours a day on social media, much of that time spent doom scrolling. Revyze wants to turn that habit into something more productive, so they’ve built the world’s first global social learning app, made by students, for students, who learn by smart scrolling through short-form videos and quiz content, all of which is moderated and verified.

The founding team – Guillaume Perrot (ex-Alan), Florent Sciberras (ex-Airbnb), and Anatole Blanc (ex-Auto1) – are united by a common experience: they love learning, but know education could be so much better. They’ve channelled that frustration into building a solution that reimagines what learning can be and in 2022 launched Revyze with a vision to democratise access to high quality education for everyone, globally.

They are passionate about changing education and inspiring students to learn on their terms – and they have the technical and operational experience to scale it. Guillaume was an early hire into French health insurance unicorn Alan by co-founder and CEO Jean-Charles Samuelian-Werve, where he interned in Product before becoming Chief of Staff. Florent spent a year in banking after graduating before going to help build Airbnb for 10 years, including opening their Paris office. Anatole is a data scientist, and heads up technical development at Revyze.

The three of them started working on Revyze while they were in college, learning how to code by watching videos. In two months, they had built and launched an app that hit 40,000 downloads in just a few days.

Revyze’s early users, like Max, an 8th grade student in France, embody the app’s impact. Visually impaired and a victim of bullying, Max dropped out of school but began using Revyze earlier this year. After using it for 98 days in a row, he’s caught up with his missed classes. ‘I learn more in 2 minutes in a video than I would in 4 hours in class.’ Stories like Max’s point to Revyze’s potential to reach those left behind by traditional education systems.

It’s these stories that inspire the team to continue to redefine education. The platform taps into the natural human instinct to share stories and knowledge – and gives its users access to AI-powered tools to better facilitate this knowledge sharing and peer-to-peer learning. It empowers students who have just mastered a concept to create content to teach their peers. The Revyze team recognises that learning is not always a linear process and that frequent, small interactions over long periods of study can compliment classroom learning and reframe ideas in a way that sticks with an individual student.

In a rapidly growing after-school and private tutoring market valued at over $100bn, many speculate on the potential of AI tutors. But Revyze believes that a network of learners using AI-powered tools offers a more durable, effective, and engaging learning experience than standalone AI tutors. The team believes that social learning, fueled by peer-to-peer interaction, can inspire and foster a deeper connection with learning – throughout life.

Following a $2.2m pre-seed in 2022, with investments from the co-founders of Airbnb, Alan, Front and MistralAI, and impressive user growth (500K MAU during this year’s exam season), we’re thrilled to be co-leading Revyze’s $6m seed with Speedinvest, alongside Ilkka Paananen (cofounder of Supercell), Riccardo Zacconi and Sebastian Knutsson (cofounders of King / Candycrush), Nickey Skarstad (Director of Product, Duolingo) and Station F, among others. The team plans to use this funding to continue to grow at pace and officially launch in the USA. And, as their community grows, they plan to implement in-app incentives for top creators, more gamified learning experiences, and community events.

The future of education will be shaped by those who can learn, adapt, and grow on their own terms, and we’re incredibly excited to see Guillaume, Florent, Anatole and the team at Revyze build it.
